Munetaka Murakami hit two home runs, drove in three runs and had three hits as the Chicago White Sox beat the Colorado Rockies 6-1 Friday. Chicago remained one game behind Cleveland in the AL Central with two regular-season games left and holds the tiebreaker.
Chicago had clinched a playoff berth Thursday. Friday’s win was its fifth in six games and opened its final home series of the regular season.
The Sox scored twice in the first, with Murakami hitting a solo homer. He homered again to open the seventh and added an RBI single in the two-run eighth. Chicago’s four-pitcher group limited Colorado to four hits and struck out 11; starter Sean Burke allowed one run on four hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk over 5⅓ innings.
