On Sunday, the White House released lists of goods that could receive lower tariffs under a US-China arrangement covering $30 billion in goods each way. Rates and timing are unspecified; both sides will review the lists for possible reciprocal reductions.
The US list covers 77 categories of Chinese goods, including fireworks, Christmas ornaments, household goods and sports equipment. China's list includes more than 1,600 categories of US goods, including beef, pork, poultry and seafood, grains, dairy, whiskey, coal and timber. The White House said Friday the sides had agreed on recommendations for more favorable treatment of “non-sensitive goods”; Beijing confirmed the agreement Saturday.
The White House also said China agreed to import at least 10 million metric tons of US coal in 2027 and 2028. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said both sides agreed to extend the trade truce, originally due to expire in November, until January 10.
