Trump had dinner Sunday with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei despite earlier criticism of the company and its legal fight with his administration over the Pentagon’s “supply chain risk” label. He called Amodei “highly respected” but gave no agenda.
Trump said the dinner was scheduled for 10 p.m. and came before a White House gathering of AI leaders set for Tuesday. Earlier Sunday, he dismissed the idea of slowing frontier AI development, saying the U.S. was “maybe a year and a half” ahead of China and asking, “why should we give that up?”
