Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years Wednesday after a jury again convicted him of sexually assaulting Mimi Haley, a former “Project Runway” production assistant, in 2006. Haley said the attack devastated her life; Weinstein denied her allegations.
The sentence followed a 2025 retrial, after a New York appeals court overturned Weinstein’s 2020 conviction in 2024. The court cited improperly admitted testimony about uncharged alleged conduct and found Weinstein had been unfairly discouraged from testifying. The retrial jury convicted him in Haley’s case but deadlocked on Jessica Mann’s rape allegation. A second jury also failed to reach a verdict on that charge, and prosecutors later declined to try it again.
Weinstein remained in custody after the New York reversal because of a separate California conviction. A Los Angeles jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting Evgeniya Chernyshova, and he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
