A £7.5m expansion at Walton Hospital’s NHS Community Diagnostic Centre in Chesterfield has added MRI and CT scans, letting patients get tests locally instead of travelling to larger hospitals. Patients praised the easier parking and quieter setting.
The expansion took 10 months and used modular buildings lifted into place by cranes. James Frith MP, Minister for Health Innovation, opened it on Tuesday, saying it was part of the government’s drive to bring NHS hospital care into communities. He said the centre would operate seven days a week.
