Walmart plans fall rollout of Papa Johns pizza ordering

Forbes

Walmart announced a partnership that will let customers order Papa Johns pizza through its digital ecosystem and combine restaurant meals with grocery and household purchases. Rollout starts in select markets this fall, with nationwide expansion planned.

AI is also beginning to shape food choices. McKinsey reported that 68% of U.S. consumers had used at least one AI tool in the previous three months; among AI users, 19% used it to discover or decide among brands, products or services. DoorDash’s 2026 nationally representative survey of more than 3,000 U.S. consumers found that 22% had used AI to help choose a restaurant, while 64% said they would prefer one app for delivery, pickup and reservations.

Papa Johns is also building its own technology stack: it selected PAR Technology for a next-generation point-of-sale and operations platform across about 3,200 U.S. restaurants, with Google Cloud-powered AI ordering and a Deliverect partnership designed to unify company-driver and third-party delivery orders. Wonder’s Infinite Makeline robotic assembly system has capacity for up to 500 bowls an hour from 68 ingredients, while staff still prepare ingredients and finish orders. A Sept. 15 DoorDash-Wonder agreement includes a proposed $300 million purchase of Wonder’s Grubhub Campus Dining business and a separate $125 million investment; the acquisition remains subject to closing conditions.
