Wake Forest upset No. 16 Louisville 30-27 on the road, blocking a 57-yard field-goal attempt with 22 seconds left to prevent a tie. At 3-1, the Deacons have consecutive road wins over ranked teams for the first time since 1946.
The teams combined for 531 yards and 45 points in the first half, then combined for just 12 after halftime. Wake receiver Carlos Hernandez had six catches for 160 yards before the break, including a 77-yard touchdown. Louisville answered Wake’s 10-point lead with a 61-yard touchdown pass just before halftime.
Wake’s defense limited Louisville to 75 rushing yards on 38 carries and recorded four sacks. The Deacons also won despite 10 penalties for 85 yards and converting just 2 of 10 third downs.
