Alexander Volkov says he is willing to wait while Josh Hokit challenges heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 334 on Nov. 14, but his description of the matchup as “inspiring” was sarcasm aimed at Hokit. Volkov first faces Rizvan Kuniev on Oct. 24.
The UFC announced the Nov. 14 bout after Tom Aspinall vacated the undisputed heavyweight title. Hokit, who joined the UFC in 2025, has drawn controversy for unfiltered and often offensive comments.
Volkov is ranked above Hokit and said he could face him next if both win their respective bouts; if Gane wins, Volkov would welcome a trilogy. Volkov has won two straight and lost only once in his past seven appearances: a controversial split decision to Gane.
