On Friday, Justin Verlander left the mound for his final MLB outing after Tigers manager A.J. Hinch sent his daughter, Genevieve, to pull him from the game. Verlander said he was blindsided and cried; Detroit beat Pittsburgh 4-3.
Hinch said he and Verlander’s wife, Kate Upton, planned the mound visit. Detroit’s win came on rookie Eduardo Valencia’s two-run walk-off homer with two outs and two strikes.
