Former Virginia golfer Lauren Coughlin birdied her first nine holes Saturday for a 9-under 26, the lowest nine-hole score in LPGA history. She added a birdie on No. 12 and finished with a bogey-free 10-under 61 at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
Coughlin was tied for 21st after two rounds, three shots off second place and eight behind leader Yuna Nishimura.
The three-time LPGA winner joined the tour in 2018 and is ranked No. 17 in the world, the second-highest-ranked American behind Nelly Korda. Her wins include the Aramco Championship earlier this year.
