Justin Verlander recalled his 2019 no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays in an interview with Mookie Betts, ahead of his final career start for Detroit on Saturday. The Houston Astros won 2-0, with Abraham Toro's ninth-inning homer providing the only runs.
The 2019 outing was Verlander's third career no-hitter, making him the sixth pitcher to throw at least three. He had also no-hit Toronto in 2011 while with Detroit; Verlander said he had come close to a third no-hitter several times and felt relief when he completed it.
