Vanderbilt beat NC State in a wild finish after Jared Curtis threw an interception at the Wolfpack 2 with 1:04 left. The defense forced a three-and-out, then Miles Caper forced CJ Bailey to fumble in the final seconds; Cayden Daniels recovered for the winning touchdown.
Curtis completed 20 of 34 passes for 277 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, and ran 12 times for 64 yards. The review also noted two Curtis fumbles; Sherrill caught six passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
The review praised Vanderbilt’s special teams but flagged six offensive holding penalties, defensive communication breakdowns and missed block-shedding on Will Wilson’s 38-yard touchdown run. It said a loss to Auburn would not end bowl hopes, though a noncompetitive showing would make the path much harder.
