Three sources familiar with the plan told Reuters the Trump administration had committed $307 million of Congress’s $400 million in Ukraine military aid by early this week and plans to put the remaining $93 million under contract by Sept. 30, before the funds expire.
Deliveries began this month, with initial shipments including offensive weapons and equipment such as spare parts for armored vehicles. Sources said the rest is expected to be delivered before October 2029; one source said the package does not include Patriot missiles.
Congress approved the funding last December, but Democrats and some Republicans criticized the Pentagon for sitting on the aid. Reuters reported in July that the administration had told Congress deliveries could take years, and lawmakers objected to the timeline. The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
