Unconfirmed leak puts Xbox Helix GPU at 56 TFLOPs, PS6 at 40

Gadget Review

Leaker Kepler_L2 says Microsoft’s Project Helix may have a 56-TFLOP GPU, versus 40 TFLOPs for Sony’s PS6, but Microsoft, Sony and AMD have not confirmed the figures. The leaker also says both chips have taped out, but that does not establish final specs or a launch date.

Reports citing Kepler_L2 also put Helix at roughly 68 compute units and 10 Zen 6 cores with 20 threads, versus about 54 units and eight Zen 6 cores for PS6. Both are said to use AMD RDNA 5, and some reports mention GDDR7. All figures are unverified; the 54-unit PS6 claim conflicts with earlier leaks of 40–48 units. Tape-out means a chip design was submitted for fabrication, not that production yields or retail specifications are settled.

TFLOPs measure theoretical floating-point throughput and do not translate directly into game performance; clock speeds, memory bandwidth, cache, ray-tracing hardware, thermals and developer optimization also matter. Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki has said the PS6 release date is not fixed. Reports have suggested a possible 2027 window, but neither console has an official launch year.
