DeSean Bagley was taken into custody and Xavier Igo turned himself in; both face charges in the theft of over 60 reptiles from Maryland and Virginia pet stores. Police say the animals were offered for sale on social media; a third suspect remains wanted.
Investigators said the thefts happened between March and May at pet stores in Fairfax, Prince George's, Charles and Baltimore counties. Bagley faces two petit larceny counts, felony larceny with intent to sell, and felony mask in public. Igo faces one petit larceny charge. Police are seeking the unidentified woman on two petit larceny counts, two misdemeanor concealment-of-goods charges, and felony larceny with intent to sell.
Fairfax detectives reviewed surveillance video from three Petco stores. Captain Richard Cash said it showed people disconnecting cage locks, placing reptiles in bags they brought, and leaving. A search of Bagley's home found six geckos, two bearded dragons, 11 ball pythons, two milk snakes and two handguns. Prince George's County Animal Control received recovered reptiles; investigators said some were still missing and they did not believe there were additional suspects beyond the wanted woman.
