President Trump shared over a dozen posts criticizing Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar on Saturday after her campaign ad said his immigration policies had gone “too far.” Some reposts called for him to drop his endorsement and replace her on the November ballot.
Salazar’s ad cited data showing that 50% of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees had no criminal record and said Hispanics who helped elect Trump in 2024 felt betrayed. Trump had endorsed her in February, but earlier this month said he was “very strong on the borders — and she isn’t” when asked if he still backed her.
Salazar said she had a “fantastic conversation” with Trump last Sunday, describing him as “very courteous” and “very receptive.” Polling taken before the ad showed her slightly ahead of Democratic challenger Eliott Rodriguez in Florida’s 27th Congressional District.
