Donald Trump said he urged Volodymyr Zelensky at the UN to make a deal with Vladimir Putin to end the war, saying Zelensky was willing if Putin agreed. Trump claimed 25,000 people died last month and said 97% were soldiers; Zelensky says peace talks will continue.
Zelensky said Trump had given final approval for Ukraine to build Patriot missiles intended to intercept Russian attacks, though manufacturing could take years. Zelensky also reportedly renewed his request for Tomahawk missiles capable of reaching Moscow; Trump replied, “We will work on it.”
Zelensky said negotiating teams would brief European partners while U.S. officials spoke with Russia, then return with views and results in 10 days. He said the U.S. proposed preparing a trilateral Ukraine-U.S.-Russia meeting at a technical level in the United Arab Emirates; Ukraine was waiting for Washington to set a date.
