Donald Trump denied an MS NOW report that his administration was considering renaming Ford’s Theatre after him; Abraham Lincoln was assassinated there in 1865. Trump called the report a “ridiculous lie,” and White House and Interior Department spokespeople denied it.
MS NOW said aides were eyeing other Washington, D.C., sites to rename after Trump amid his effort to add his name to the Kennedy Center. The outlet also cited the administration’s renaming of the Institute of Peace and use of Trump’s likeness on official government issuances, including passports and coins.
Trump accused news outlets and Democrats of conspiring to invent false stories about him, without offering evidence. CNN, MS NOW and Politico were allowed back into the White House Thursday after being denied access despite a federal judge’s order temporarily blocking the ban.
