Federal prosecutors charged three non-U.S. citizens in Georgia with voting in federal elections; one is accused of voting nine times between 2008 and 2024. A state audit separately flagged 432 potential noncitizens who had voted since 1996.
Prosecutors identify them as a 65-year-old Dawsonville woman, a 44-year-old Lawrenceville man and a 43-year-old Morrow woman. The Dawsonville resident allegedly voted absentee in November 2020, January 2021 and November 2024. The Lawrenceville man allegedly voted in person under a false name in 2024; prosecutors also charged him with making a false statement on a U.S. passport application, saying he used a different name and claimed he was from Puerto Rico. The Morrow woman received Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status in 2013, could not renew it earlier this year and had not applied for citizenship.
The September 1 independent review said 98% of nearly 7.9 million Georgia voter registrations linked to REAL ID could be independently verified; voter records were 99.9% accurate on identity, address and citizenship. In the citizenship audit, 204 of the 432 potential noncitizens had already been marked “pending citizenship.” The report said some registration records date to 1948, before Georgia required proof of citizenship to register, and some had not been linked to votes since the 1990s.
