Thomas Annunziata won his first ARCA title on a tiebreak over Nitro Motorsports teammate Jake Bollman; both finished with 947 points at Kansas. Bollman accused Annunziata of intentionally wrecking him, while Annunziata denied responsibility for Bollman’s title loss.
Annunziata’s lone win, at Lime Rock Park, proved decisive in the tiebreak; Bollman had no wins and entered Kansas 16 points ahead. The teammates made contact on lap 16, sending Annunziata spinning; Annunziata sent Bollman spinning on lap 24. After lap 40, Will Kimmel spun ahead of Bollman, who crashed into Kimmel and was then hit by Austin Vaughn.
After the race, Annunziata said Bollman was not blameless, citing prior contact at DuQuoin and claiming he had outqualified him for 13 consecutive weeks. Annunziata also said he respected Bollman and had hoped he was okay after the crash.
