CD Projekt Red has published patch notes for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s free upgrade for existing owners, due Sept. 29 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2. It brings visual and interface improvements and a redesigned skill tree; players’ skill points will be reset.
The new skill tree gives each skill three ranks and makes unlocks depend on prerequisite skills rather than a set number of points. Players can also change equipment’s appearance without altering its stats through master craftsmen Yoana and Hattori; dyes from Blood and Wine carry over.
Visual updates include native DirectX 12 rendering with multithreading, ray-traced HairWorks, and changes to lighting and textures. The notes also describe refined combat behavior and character animations, grouped nearby-loot windows, a loot feed and easier quest tracking on the map. Further updates cover Photo Mode, accessibility, modding, quality-of-life features and platform-specific settings and support.
