At The Potteries in West Yorkshire, residents from 80 households are challenging Blue Property Management over annual fees, now £209, up from £98 in 2015-16. They say shared areas are neglected; Blue says concerns about charges and payment arrangements were addressed.
Andrea Jones and Lee Gilbert were billed £1,153 when seeking to add Jones's name to their house deeds; the amount included a £570 fee to Blue Property Management and £300 for a solicitor. Another resident paid the company £1,043 in administration and paperwork fees when selling her home. David Lowe says a bill arrived after the payment deadline and he was fined £60. Chris Rhodes says Blue waived a similar £60 charge only after he threatened tribunal action.
Estate fees cover shared areas not adopted by local councils, although residents own the freeholds; the article describes the charges as uncapped and unregulated.
