The Fresh Market has closed four stores since late 2025: locations in Vienna, Virginia, and Montvale, New Jersey, after 15 years, plus outlets in Naperville, Illinois, and Framingham, Massachusetts, that had operated for less than a year.
Vienna's store closed in late May 2026 and Montvale's in mid-April after the company chose not to renew their leases. Naperville and Framingham closed in late 2025 as part of a portfolio reassessment tied to long-term growth goals.
Owner Cencosud reported The Fresh Market's revenue rose 12.3% year over year in fiscal Q2 2026, while online sales increased 18.6% and online transactions grew 12%. Management said its strategy emphasizes online-and-store capabilities, loyalty and efficiency, while citing lower industry momentum, consumers becoming more discretionary, and inflationary pressures on supply chains and logistics costs.
