Reuters says Tesla believes an EU committee may vote on its supervised Full Self-Driving software before Oct. 6; no meeting date is announced. Tesla received an order for 2,500 Semi trucks, and NHTSA data lists four robotaxi incident reports filed in July and August.
The vote would be held by the EU Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles, a panel of national experts representing all 27 member states. EU-wide approval requires a qualified majority: 55% of member states representing 65% of the bloc’s population must support it. Seven countries, representing about 11.8% of the population, have separately approved FSD under a national Article 39 exemption.
ZET SCALE, a coalition of cargo-owning shippers including Microsoft and PepsiCo, placed the order. Some analysts estimate up to $18,000 a month in FSD revenue per Semi; the author says the order could represent $540 million in recurring revenue. The four NHTSA incident reports submitted in July and August included two cases of other cars hitting a robotaxi, a 2-mph contact with a low-hanging chain blocking a parking-lot exit, and a bollard contact at less than 1 mph. The article says faster Cybercab rollout depends on FSD v15 or changes to federal vehicle-safety standards, plus continued safety demonstrations.
