U.S. stocks rose early Friday as Brent crude fell to nearly $98 a barrel on hopes for a potential deal to open the Strait of Hormuz. Tech shares gained after a dinner attended by Trump, Xi Jinping and tech executives; Microsoft rose about 3%, while Meta fell 2%.
The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.17%, while the U.S. dollar index eased. Dinner guests included Nvidia's Jensen Huang, AMD's Lisa Su and Tesla's Elon Musk.
Yahoo Finance attributed Meta's 16% rally over the previous four days to enthusiasm for its new AI agent, Muse.
