Tim Tebow says he is pausing his relationship with Christian group Life Surge while his team investigates scam allegations in Pablo Torre’s report. He said he was caught off guard; the report put his speaking fees at $50,000–$100,000 per event.
Torre’s report says attendees were typically charged about $30 to attend one of Tebow’s Life Surge speaking events, which were designed to promote courses on making money in real estate and the stock market. The courses reportedly cost up to $50,000. The report also says Life Surge provided third-party brokers to help attendees apply for credit cards with temporary 0% interest rates, and some people were encouraged to take out lines of credit on their homes and retirement accounts.
Tebow said his team told him about the allegations as he left an anti-human-trafficking conference the day before, while traveling to an event in Alabama. Torre said he had tried several times to contact Tebow before publishing his report but received no response.
