The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a third bid this month to restore Missouri’s Trump-backed congressional map, saying a late switch would create “electoral chaos.” Missouri will use the districts adopted after the 2020 census for November’s midterms.
Absentee voting had already begun when the court ruled. Republicans hoped the revised map would help them gain one additional House seat; the ruling leaves Missouri voters using the district lines used in the 2022 and 2024 elections.
Gov. Mike Kehoe called the decision disappointing, saying it meant November’s election would use a different congressional map from Missouri’s primary. He said the state would follow the court’s order.
