The MTA awarded an STV-WSP joint venture a $19.7 million design contract for flood-resilience work on about 9 miles of Metro-North’s Hudson Line, from Spuyten Duyvil to Hastings-on-Hudson. The line carries 25,000 weekday commuters and Amtrak passengers on the Empire Corridor.
The $270 million project is part of an $800 million effort to fortify the Hudson Line under the MTA’s 2025–29 capital plan. Construction is projected to begin in 2029.
The project is intended to address risks from stormwater runoff and tidal flooding. Measures include stabilizing the right-of-way, fortifying retaining walls and slopes, expanding culverts, rehabilitating the shoreline, and improving water-flow and drainage infrastructure.
