Toronto placed forward Steven Lorentz on waivers Thursday ahead of its Sept. 29 season opener against Montreal. He had seven goals and 18 points in 71 games last season; if unclaimed, he will be assigned to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies.
Lorentz, 30, won the Stanley Cup with Florida in 2024-25, recording one goal and three points in 38 regular-season games and two goals plus an assist in 16 playoff games. His Toronto contract runs through 2027-28 and carries a $1.35 million average annual value. Philippe Myers, Michael Pezzetta and Marshall Rafai were also placed on waivers.
