After Green Bay lost 35-14 at home to Atlanta, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said coach Matt LaFleur may not keep his job through midseason. The defeat left the Packers 1-2; Smith called them “soft” and cited their five-game losing streak to end 2025.
Atlanta answered Green Bay’s opening 7-0 lead with 27 consecutive points. Returning from an ACL injury, Michael Penix Jr. led the Falcons to 35 points; Bijan Robinson rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns.
Green Bay had lost seven of its last eight games. Against Atlanta, the Packers were outgained 498-328, surrendered 242 rushing yards and managed just 17 rushing yards. Fourteen games remained, and LaFleur had an extended break to regroup.
