Stellantis keeps U.S. vehicle development domestic, uses Chinese partners abroad

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa says U.S. vehicles rely on domestic engineering and development; the company partners with China's Leapmotor and Dongfeng to localize production and share purchasing costs abroad, with no plans to use them for U.S. models.

Filosa described the markets as differing in regulations, consumer preferences and approaches to China. The article warns that separate regional engineering could add complexity and limit economies of scale, while U.S. officials may still scrutinize overseas deals: the Trump administration criticized Ford over its European joint venture with China's Geely.

Insider Monkey's database counted 26 hedge funds holding Stellantis in the second quarter, down from 32 in the first; the value of their positions nearly halved to $195.4 million from $423.6 million. Ford's holder count stayed at 50, while its position value fell from $1.12 billion to $1.02 billion.
