At South Africa’s annual Pink Day ODI in Johannesburg, the Proteas wear pink to raise breast cancer awareness and funds. Proceeds benefit Charlotte Maxeke Hospital’s Breast Care Unit; the event is estimated to have raised about 10 million rand.
The first Pink ODI was played against Pakistan in 2013, and South Africa won its first six matches in the pink kit. In 2015, Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw set a world-record opening stand of 247 against the West Indies; AB de Villiers then made an ODI century in 31 balls, and South Africa scored 439/2 before winning by 148 runs.
