Sheffield church puts up a new Pride banner after theft

St Mark’s Church in Sheffield replaced its Pride-flag banner after it was cut down and stolen in broad daylight on 21 September. Vicar Helena Roulston said the incident was reported as a hate crime; it had been put up five days earlier to welcome new students.

Roulston said congregation members told her this was not the first time Pride flags outside the church had been taken down. South Yorkshire Police had been contacted for comment.
