Minnesota beat previously unbeaten Washington 27-24 on the road Sunday morning, improving to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big Ten play. Drake Lindsey threw all three of his touchdown passes in the first half, and the Gophers defense recorded seven sacks and two interceptions.
Washington cut the deficit to 27-24 on Demond Williams' 13-yard rushing touchdown with 1:53 left, but failed to recover the ensuing onside kick. Its final possession began at its own 2-yard line and ended without a score. Washington had won 28 of its previous 30 home games dating to 2022.
Lindsey finished 21-of-29 for 204 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He completed 15 of 16 passes for 125 yards and all three touchdowns in the first half, when Minnesota led 21-10.
