South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and US President Donald Trump discussed cooperation on warship building at a New York meeting Wednesday, South Korea's presidential office said. Lee said he expects tangible results from bilateral cooperation; the office gave no details.
The 30-minute meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Lee's office also said Hanhwa's Philadelphia shipyard will build US military vessels. The meeting followed a Tuesday briefing by South Korea's Industry Ministry on plans to implement the countries' $350 billion investment package; $150 billion is earmarked for shipbuilding, and a Texas gas-fired power project was identified as a potential first investment.
