Texas did not get on base until the first batter of the fifth, when it rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score. With the bases loaded and one out after its first run, Evan Carter beat out a potential double play to bring home the tying run; the Rangers had no further baserunner until one out in the ninth.
The defeat was Texas’ first home series loss in more than two months. The Rangers will try to avoid a sweep in the series finale, scheduled for 1:35 p.m. CDT on the Rangers Sports Network. Texas had not announced its starter, with Kumar Rocker considered likely; New York was to start Zac Thornton.
