The White House denied Texas coach Steve Sarkisian’s claim that Donald Trump’s movements cut sideline comms, saying his departure from January’s national championship caused no headset or comms issues. CBS Sports reported two Miami assistants confirmed comms went out.
Trump was announced as an attendee at Saturday’s Texas-Tennessee game in Knoxville, where Sarkisian made the comments during pregame media availability.
Marc Caputo reported Trump left the January championship with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, at 10:47 p.m. ET, and Carson Beck threw an interception at 11:15 p.m. ET. Those times do not establish whether communications failed.
