The San Antonio Spurs edged Portland 129-127 in Austin’s first NBA regular-season game at the Moody Center. Keita Bates-Diop (25), Keldon Johnson (24), Zach Collins (21) and Julian Champagnie (24) each scored at least 20; nine Blazers were out with injuries.
Portland led 100-98 entering the fourth quarter and stayed ahead for nearly the whole period. Three Spurs three-pointers, including consecutive shots by Bates-Diop, put San Antonio up 123-119 with 3:06 left. Former Spur Drew Eubanks scored 23 for Portland, while Kevin Knox added 24.
