Rosemaund restarts whisky stills, plans up to 200 casks in 2026

Herefordshire’s Rosemaund Farm has restarted its stills and plans to fill up to 200 casks in 2026, even as larger distilleries cut production. The new stock is intended for sale in the mid-2030s, reflecting the family-run distillery’s bet on demand for English whisky.

Rosemaund is a new brand, but not a wholly new distillery: the site began as Chase Distillery in 2008. After the family sold the business to Diageo, it reacquired the Herefordshire site and several hundred whisky casks when Diageo moved Chase production to Scotland. That stock gives Rosemaund mature whisky to release while its new distillate ages.

Rosemaund’s third release, The Director’s Cut, is a 10-year-old English single malt limited to 3,000 bottles. It went on general sale on September 1, 2026, at $171 (£126). Taster Phil Dwyer rated it 8.5/10, calling it one of the most complex 10-year-old spirits he had tried, while noting its price could make it difficult to sell to ordinary consumers.
