49ers rookie defensive tackle Gracen Halton could see more snaps as injuries thin the defensive line. Nick Bosa is expected to miss a few weeks with a calf injury, and C.J. West is out multiple weeks; Bosa is not expected to go on injured reserve.
Halton played 31 snaps in Week 1 and 32 against Miami in Week 2, when only Osa Odighizuwa played more among defensive tackles. Halton had two pressures against Miami and is tied for third on the team with three through two weeks. Coach Raheem Morris said Halton’s use of his hands and stout run defense surprised the staff, while his pass-rush movement was expected.
Other defensive linemen listed as unavailable are Mykel Williams, Alfred Collins, Sam Okuayinonu and James Thompson Jr.; Romello Height was listed out for Sunday with a broken hand. San Francisco’s defensive line ranked last in NFL sacks in 2025. Arizona is next on the schedule, followed by Denver and Seattle.
