Sen. Roger Marshall urged ICE to coordinate with local police during southwest Kansas warrant operations, saying it would help keep residents safe. Officials in Dodge City, Garden City and Liberal said they learned of the operations only after agents appeared.
The Cook Political Report recently shifted Kansas from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican.” An Emerson College poll conducted Sept. 15–16 found Democratic nominee Adam Hamilton leading Marshall, 45% to 43%, among surveyed Kansas voters.
Kansas Sen. Jerry Moran also called for coordination, saying DHS Secretary Mullin assured him the warrants were intended to target people charged with criminal activity. ICE has not publicly released detailed information on the scope of the southwest Kansas operations.
