Robert Griffin III called Rivals’ $499 high school football evaluation a “massive money grab.” It includes a scouting report, grade, film review and coach interview, with consideration for a site ranking; Rivals says payment does not guarantee a rating.
On3 | Rivals CEO Shannon Terry said Rivals Recruits aims to expand scouting beyond FBS prospects. He said 1.04 million high school players competed last season, while about 6,600—roughly 0.6%—had a Rivals star rating. He said FCS, Division II, NAIA and Division III players rarely had their film watched.
Rivals said athletes pay for access to the evaluation process, not a promised outcome. Ratings, rankings and stars are earned, the company said, and payment does not guarantee any specific evaluation result.
