Robert Glenn Wagoner Jr. remains jailed without bond on three charges over an alleged assault and break-in at Frederick Murray’s home. Murray, 64, died Sept. 19, five days after the attack; prosecutors have directed authorities to seek enhanced charges but haven’t specified them.
Wagoner’s initial charges are nighttime breaking and entering with intent to commit assault and battery, aggravated malicious wounding, and grand larceny of a motor vehicle. Deputies took him into custody Sept. 14 at a family member’s home in Henry County. The charges are allegations, not convictions.
Deputies responded to Murray’s Brook Court home at about 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 14, found him severely injured and evidence of forced entry, and Murray was treated at the scene before being airlifted to a hospital. A citizen later reported the stolen Camry on property in neighboring Patrick County; deputies confirmed it was the vehicle taken from Murray’s home.
