With Jaxson Dart out for the rest of the regular season, the Giants are seeking a quarterback solution, but New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy sees a J.J. McCarthy pursuit as unlikely; The Athletic’s Dan Duggan also doubts the Vikings quarterback is a fit.
Duggan reported that McCarthy had just lost Minnesota’s quarterback competition to Kyler Murray and was third on the depth chart behind Carson Wentz. He argued that even a 2027 sixth-round pick or a future late-round pick would seem wasteful, since McCarthy would have to learn a new offense during the season.
Duggan also noted that the Giants scouted McCarthy heavily before the 2024 draft, then selected wide receiver Malik Nabers with the sixth pick.
