U.S. officials reportedly accuse FIFA president Gianni Infantino of inadequate cooperation with a House Judiciary inquiry into his ties to the Trump administration; The Athletic says he has not provided requested records. FIFA says talks with committee staff have been productive.
Rep. Jamie Raskin's letter set an Aug. 9 deadline and sought all records of Infantino's contact with President Donald Trump and his administration, visitor entry logs for FIFA offices in Miami and New York, and an interview with Infantino.
The report says unfulfilled requests could become more serious if Democrats win a House majority in November. Raskin or another Democrat involved in the request could then chair the Judiciary Committee, a role with subpoena powers.
