Seven months after Eric Dane died of ALS, Rebecca Gayheart says their daughters, Billie, 16, and Georgia, 14, are “hanging in there” as both navigate high school; she called the period challenging and said staying close to them helps.
Gayheart said connecting with friends and family helps her through difficult days. Although she and Dane were not living together during his illness, she became a key caretaker, managing his care team and navigating health insurance, she wrote in a December 2025 essay for The Cut.
