The Toronto Raptors announced Wednesday they had signed Kawhi Leonard to a multi-year extension. ESPN, citing his agent, reported a two-year, $115 million deal with a player option for 2028-29; the team did not disclose its financial terms.
The team said Leonard averaged a career-high 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 65 games for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, with 32.1 minutes per game. It was his seventh consecutive season averaging at least 20 points.
Leonard said Toronto felt like home to him and his family; his son was born there and had long asked to return. Leonard also said he was not chasing championships.
