Public and business leaders across 10 EU countries want more renewable investment

A survey in Germany and nine other EU countries found that people and business leaders want more investment in renewable energy and less reliance on energy imports. About 74% of German business leaders said renewables could help reduce energy price shocks.

Both groups also prioritized lower energy costs and greater energy security. Executives were particularly positive about renewables’ economic benefits, and support for energy-transition issues was slightly higher among surveyed business leaders than among the public.

EU energy ministers are meeting in Dublin on Monday and Tuesday, with the bloc’s energy security on the agenda. The survey was conducted for the Climate Opinion Research Exchange, an initiative of an international foundation based in Belgium.
