Prince Faisal arrives in Washington ahead of talks with US Secretary of State Rubio

ABC News

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan arrived in Washington early Monday ahead of talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said they would review bilateral ties and discuss regional and international developments.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran was prepared for both diplomacy and war, while questioning the Trump administration’s intentions. President Donald Trump said he expected more talks with Iran this week and told Axios he was always thinking about possible new strikes.

Trump also claimed that more than 20 million barrels of oil transited the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend, which he described as the largest amount since the war began. Earlier US-Iran negotiations broke down amid continued exchanges of strikes, with the strait a primary flashpoint. Saudi Arabia is also in an escalating conflict with Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen, while supporting the internationally recognized Yemeni government’s military.
