Target Corp. voluntarily recalled 1.7 million pounds of light brown and powdered sugar sold as United, Good & Gather and Crystal Sugar last month because it may contain wheat kernel, an allergen not listed on labels. The FDA classified the recall earlier this week.
Affected products are 50-pound bags of United Light Brown Sugar; 2-pound Good & Gather Light Brown Sugar; 50-pound United 6X Powdered Sugar; 25-pound Crystal Sugar Powdered Sugar; and 2-pound Good & Gather Powdered Sugar. Consumer and commercial packages were shipped to Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. The FDA notice did not name retailers carrying the affected products.
